Gitanath Ganguly is no more

The Indian Journalists’ Association (IJA) condoled the demise of veteran advocate and president, Mohun Bagan AC, Gitanath Ganguly, who passed away this afternoon in Kolkata.

One of the leading lawyers of the city, Ganguly was in the panel of lawyers of IJA and fought many cases for the association and its members. Always willing to help those who needed legal support, the 86-year-old was a pillar of strength for the IJA. Both he and his lawyer son, Saurav Ganguly, helped many journalists fight their cases through IJA and got them relief from the court.
A sports lover and staunch Mohun Bagan supporter, Ganguly was elected the club’s president on November 1, 2018 and was in the chair till his untimely demise.
The world, especially the journalistic fraternity, will be indebted to Ganguly for his contribution to the legal profession.
The IJA expresses its deepest condolences to his family and near and dear ones.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
